Many years ago, while on a mission trip, Chris Hughes introduced to me to “Pops” and Trish Okami.
“Pops” Okami, founder of KoAloha Ukelele recently presented me with a very special handmade Koa wood ukelele at his factory in Honolulu. Pops design was initially from a Godly dream he had about showing his love for mission work and promote what both Trish, his wife, their love for Christ.
This design is called the “Scepter “, named after King Jesus having the scepter of His Kingdom. The logo of Ko’Aloha is two “K’s” back to back meaning “King of Kings”. Pops also added to the logo on this special ukelele two “L’s” meaning “Lord of Lords”. Easily recognized is the 5 points of the logo in the shape of a kings crown. But on this special ukelele, Pops made the ukelele with a 7 pointed crown because the bible depicts 7 as a perfect number. While traveling to be with missionaries Greg and Laura Sharpe and on my last of 4 mission trips to Matamye, Niger, Africa, and at request of Pops, I presented the village chief with a Ko’Aloha ukelele. How appropriate that this gift representing “Jesus as the Lion of Judah” was given to the chief of the village called “Ka Da Zaki” named long ago after a lion that frequented the waterhole nearby. Pops has always supported our mission work to reach the world for Christ. When I told him about our vision for the indigenous pastors of Ilocos Norte Philippines, he made the commitment of support.
